Cobalt’s Luck Could Come From Volkswagen, Glencore Troubles
One side-story to the biggest headlines in corporate #Europe, #Glencore PLC and #Volkswagen AG, is a minor metal called #Cobalt.
Some analysts believe that the price of this metal, used in #Phones and #CarBatteries, will rise when beleaguered commodity’s giant Glencore closes down mines responsible for 5% of global supply as it seeks to cut costs. And some investors are betting that increased demand for #ElectricCars in the wake of the Volkswagen emissions scandal will also boost cobalt.
