Areva has hailed its molten salt energy storage demonstration plant as a success after kicking off operations in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

The scheme (pictured), which has been installed at Sandia National Laboratories’ National Solar Thermal Test Facility, is designed for use with the company’s Compact Linear Fresnel Reflector technology.
