New Zealand’s Titanium Industry Development Association announces major funding and installs new furnace

It has been reported that the Titanium Industry Development Association (TiDA), based at the Bay of Plenty Polytechnic in Tauranga, New Zealand, has recently received $7 million in research funding. The funding, to be spread over two years, will focus on developing and adapting powder metallurgy processes to ensure New Zealand is at the forefront of titanium manufacturing technology.

Airbus, CSIR, Aerosud sign titanium manufacturing research agreement

A collaboration agreement signed between Airbus, the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research’s (CSIR’s) National Laser Centre (NLC) and aerostructure manufacturer Aerosud on Thursday would see the group test the viability of titanium powder-based additive layer manufacturing (ALM) for the fabrication of large and complex aerospace components.
