Russia’s Norilsk sees room for palladium output growth

Global palladium producers need to increase output by 2020 to cover a rising deficit, according to an executive at Russia’s Norilsk Nickel, the world’s largest producer of the metal.

Production of palladium, used in catalytic converters, devices which control car exhaust emissions, and in jewellery, currently lags consumption by 30 tonnes, or by 1 million troy ounces.

Norilsk Nickel CFO Dmitry Kostoyev Steps Down

Russian mining giant, Norilsk Nickel (GMKN.RS), said Wednesday its chief financial officer Dmitry Kostoyev has resigned after four years on the job to pursue other projects.

 

He will be replaced by Sergei Malyshev, an executive from Energostroiinvest Holding Group, a large contracting firm that specializes in the energy sector, Norilsk said. He had previously worked as finance director at Lukoil-Chemical.

Norilsk Nickel Plans To Invest RUB75.4Bn in 2013

Russian mining giant OAO Norilsk Nickel (GMKN.RS) has approved an investment program worth 75.4 billion rubles ($2.5 billion) in 2013, the company said in a statement Monday.

Russian Firms Set to Invest in Indonesia

Russian companies UC Rusal, the world’s biggest aluminium producer, and Norilsk Nickel, a global mining and metallurgical company, plan to build smelters in Indonesia, a government minister says.
