Could Volkswagen’s Downfall Be the Savior for Rare Earth Metals?

Uses of Rare Earth Elements in Industry. Source: AFP, phys.org

This is only the first step for #America, because the key to the exploitation in the #RareEearth is not only the research and production of minerals, but also the separation of #RareEarthOxides to refined products. The #UnitedStates has yet to reactivate the production of rare earths outside of #China, even if they are trying to rebuild the rare earth sector. Much of production has shifted to China, for the usual reason as to why in recent years everything has moved there.

Is it time to go for growth in metals and mining?

(Reuters) – – If one was to compile a list of the biggest risk to #Metals and #Mining companies right now, it’s unlikely that planning and executing a renewed growth strategy would the top issue.

But that’s exactly the view of consultants #ErnstYoung (EY), who recently produced a report highlighting the top risks for metals and mining companies in the next year, and how these have evolved since the peak of the #Commodity cycle in 2008.
